I saw Dr. Lau for help managing a complicated case of lean adrenal PCOS, including persistent hair loss that has resisted anti androgens and scanty menstruation. I requested an estrogen priming protocol—an approach with documented use in endocrinology—but she dismissed it outright, stating it was not clinically proven.
Instead, she offered me birth control (which had previously worsened my symptoms) or to remove my ovaries—pretty rediculous solution for scanty periods. It became clear during my appointment that Dr. Lau is not hormonally literate and is not capable of individualized hormone care.
If you are dealing with intricate hormonal issues and are looking for a doctor who listens, or stays current with evolving research, and takes a personalized approach, I would not recommend Dr. Lau.
