Appointment was in January 2024. Dr Al-Zaher looked at my young daughter for approximately 4 minutes, and then asked me if she was my only child. When I responded yes, he said quote “Oh, so she is precious to you.” He proceeded to tell me she was “fine” and this was “normal” for her tonsils to be large enough to touch each other for months. In November 2024 I asked to have a second opinion from a different ENT, as my daughters tonsils were still large enough to touch each other, and she had this symptom for over a year. In March 2025 we had our appointment with a new ENT, who was immediately concerned with the size of her tonsils, and asked if the previous ENT had checked her Adenoids. Dr. Al-Zaher did not check her adenoids, nor did he even check in her nose. Our new ENT was appalled with the bedside manner of Dr. Al-Zaher.
We had XRAYS done that day to look at her adenoids, and our new ENT confirmed that they were very swollen, to the point where he claimed this could cause her airway to become obstructed. This was NOT NORMAL, as Dr. Al-Zaher had so casually stated.
Her quality of life has suffered for over two years now because Dr. Al-Zaher decided to focus on the fact that she was an only child instead of focusing on her symptoms and providing medical expertise to a child in need.
I wholeheartedly do not recommend him for patient care or bedside manner, especially with children.
It is incredibly discouraging to know that this could have been taken care of over a year ago if Dr. Al-Zaher had DONE HIS JOB. I am thankful for our family doctor listening to me and encouraging me to get a second opinion, and equally as thankful that the new ENT took these symptoms seriously and had the XRAY done.
