I was referred to Dr. Rode during the absolute worst time of my life: in the process of losing a very wanted pregnancy, late-term. He was incredibly kind, and sent us to Calgary for a last-resort second opinion. Unfortunately, the worst came to be. When he gave me the results of the autopsy, he made sure that I knew everything about the condition my first opinion had, and told me to call him if/when I was ready to try for another baby. During my second pregnancy, he made sure he did absolutely everything possible to keep my anxiety levels down— found a provider for a NIPT, routine ultrasounds from 8 weeks to 37 weeks, went over my birth plan in great detail, and let me control what I could. When the anatomy scan came back clear, he told me that it was time to start getting excited, and enjoy the pregnancy and bonding.
Dr Rode is a unicorn of a doctor, and I will always appreciate him, his kindness, and his way of making sure I couldn’t misinterpret the information he gave me.
