1 review about Dr Veronica McCarthy
Because of her, I was involuntarily admitted to Ottawa General Hospital (501 Smyth Road, 4 North (Mental Hospital), Ottawa, ON K1H 8L6). On July 17, 2025 around 11:40 am, I met her for the first time so that she can evaluate my mental health. We briefly talked like 1 minute in a hallway about my mental health, and she served me Form 30 (Notice to Patient under Subsection 38(1) of the Act). She took the already-filled form out of her bag and handed it to me. The form was already filled before she evaluated me. She was prejudiced against me even before meeting me.
She wrote the date and time rights adviser notified as July 17, 2025 at 11:30 am. I met her July 17, 2025 around 11:40 am. The hospital security camera should be able to show the evidence. Even before she met me, she decided I’m suffering from mental disorder that will result in serious physical impairment of myself. She specializes in Psychiatry. Without communicating with a patient, she should not make a diagnosis based on prejudice or bias. Her ethics are questionable. By the way, she didn’t attach Form 16 and Form 19 to Form 30 as it is directed. I applied to Consent and Capacity Board and I won my court hearing on July 30, 2025. I got discharged from the mental hospital the following day. I don’t want to interact with someone like her. It was disgusting experience.
